Who's Telling My Story

Who's Telling My Story

1. Is it fair to cast White, Christian, abled actors if there aren't enough community actors available? Why might producers use this as an excuse?

2. Is there a differences between cripface and practices likes blackface or casting White actors as Asians, Aboriginals, etc. If so, why? If not, why do we accept cripface but not these other practices?

3. Actors often play characters who are significantly different than themselves such as aliens, members of the opposite sex, or people from other times or places. What is the difference between this and "face" casting?
Is it more important that writers and producers come from the community being represented?

Teen Portrayal in the Media

Teen Portrayal in the Media

Juno

Juno

1. How does the portrayal of teen pregnancy differ from the movie Juno to shows like Teen Mom?

Teen mom is a reality show and Juno is is an read along script and actual acting.
2. Does one glorify teen pregnancy more than the other?
Teen mom is more Glorifying then Juno but they are both about teen pregnancy teen mom is more real and the drama is real but some people can still relate to Juno.
3. Which of the two shows a more accurate portrayal of teens? Why?
Juno seems more portrayal there the stares in school and the parents opinions and the putting up with adoption. Juno's immaturity.
4. Have you seen similar characters (Juno, Vanessa, Paulie and Mark) in other films/ soap opera? Is it common to know such people in our real life? Can you guess and explain what the director actually implies?
Yes I know many pregnant girls in my life time and that are my age. I've never met anyone to adopt a baby instead of me.

5.     5. What kind of impact do you  think the movie Juno has on teens and teen pregnancy
        Why?
Being pregnant is tough and you can't do it alone, if your not sure if you can do it have some else look after a baby they are ready for.

Teen Pregnancy in the Media Part 2

Teen Pregnancy in the Media Part 2

1. Does the show create a negative or positive image of teens? Explain.
Teen mom 2 is incredibly personal, Its reality of teen moms but not entirely because they could be reading scripts. its not really negative well sort of because would kids watch it and think some negative thoughts.

2. What effect might “Teen Mom” have on what teens consider “typical” behavior?

Teens might think i can be pregnant and life will be easy, its not typical behavior, having a child is a lot of work  and as a teen your still growing and figuring yourself out.

3. Are “Teen Mom” viewers more likely than non-viewers to perceive teen pregnancy as acceptable or even positive? Is the “celebrity” status of the cast members (the fact that teens are seeing them everywhere in the media) a factor in this? How might this influence teens’ own behavior? (Some have suggested that watching “Teen Mom” will make girls want to become pregnant in the hopes of getting famous, since some of cast member Jenelle’s friends actually became pregnant after she did.) Might a “likable” cast member have more influence on teens than one who is perceived as “behaving badly”?

The media definitely takes over the teenagers thoughts, its like "if i do this ill be cool", "if i dress like this ill be cool" now teen mom 2 having a show, teens are going to think "if i get pregnant ill be famous". its crazy what media can do. its true because if jenelle's friends tried it then who else will.

4. Do you think this show presents a fair and accurate view of teenagers today? Does the show promote prejudices or stereotypes of teens?

Well adults may think teenagers are a handful and there hormones are all over, This show is not fair, I don't think there should a show for Teen Moms, there getting paid for being pregnant, the media can be crazy.

5. Which aspects of “Teen Mom” communicate that the show is “entertainment,” and which aspects communicate that the show is an “informative documentary”? Is a reality show like this a combination of both? Do both forms of media have equal influence on teens?

Yes its even there showing the consequences of having a baby, showing it can hard. there will be drama.

6. If teens are viewing "Teen Mom," are they likely to believe that teen pregnancy is increasing, or tat it is widespread in the U.S.? Are these things actually true

teen parents are increasing, most of my old friends are pregnant and are single parents, goes to show the guys they choose only want them in a sexual way. all i say is be careful.
7. Do you think that the people on "Teen Mom" act the way they normally would or do you think they act a certain way for the cameras?

I think they have to act a certain way on camera, because its t.v. I think they make more drama now that they are on t.v and Ferrah is crazy, shes going crazy with all the fame.

Teen Pregnancy

Teen Pregnancy
Teen mom reality show, I thinks its not really a good show, would if a kids get hold of it and they start to think "i want to be a teen mom, would if get famous". its almost like an encouragement and watching them on t.v is kind of raunchy, watching there whole personal life, like anybody really wants to know how much of trouble there in, they put themselves in a position like that, or maybe they wanted a child I wouldn't know. I just really dislike this show

"Teens and Media Part 2"

 "Teens and Media Part 2"

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/hoodies-louts-scum-how-media-demonises-teenagers-1643964.html

1. Do you think teens are portrayed accurately and fairly?
In this post it says that people are more worried about teen boys, because they are more based on there friends, and people always read bad articles on what teen boys. As a teenager its tough because there hormones  are all over the place and your trying to figure yourself out, depression hits you hard because your old enough to have it together but your also to young to have it all together.

2. Does the media reinforce stereotypes? Are they realistic or fair?
The media is basically not reality but yes there is stereotyping because when they see a teen there going to think trouble some teen are good kids, yes there are some teen that are very bad but its only fair if they treat them like a normal person not a bad teenager, because that would just make them feel bad about themselves.

3. Are the teens you see on TV like you?

The teens I see on t.v are over the top crazy, but yes sometimes I can relate. I'm a very good person just as long as I don't feel like your sketchy. I'm just like any other teen, I like internet I like spending my time in front of the t.v and eating snacks, my rooms messy.

Teen Representation in the Media

Teen Representation in the Media

Justin Bieber has been in the music industry for a long time since he was 13 but got discovered way before he was 13, when the first song "one time" came out everybody was in love with Justin Bieber. but they didn't really know who he is as an actual person, Justin as a very popular superstar they like publish him as an a**hole, he grew with people always watching him, be basically has no privacy, i guess the price of being a famous star.
there are stuff he has done but people do way worse then what he as done, they put him down more because hes famous and everybody expects him to be perfect. nobody's perfect.
Many articles of Justin point out the bad in celebs and publish it. theirs not one thing that's positive that they published, people got understand that famous people are human. In the popular industry its "you got to be sexy", "you got to be fit" and "you got to look a certain way". the pop industry is hectic and you shouldn't believe everything you see on t.v because they change it to what its not, its almost like acting.

Katy Perry grew up in a christian family, she is also a very well known pop star, she has done many advertisement for make up. she was discovered in 2007 and started playing guitar when she was 13. She has received 85 awards from 298 nominations, for songs and wrote 7 songs for other artists. She was raised by strictly religious parents that only let her and her siblings read the bible and listen to gospel music. She grew up and decided to leave all that behind and become a pop star. She is still tied to her religion though. She has a tattoo that says Jesus on her left wrist. She says it reminds her where she came from. She also likes to party! Her friends say she is tons of fun and she is very funny and comical. She is a prankster.

Degrassi (teen t.v show)

my digital footprint

merchants of cool

Merchants of cool

If I were training a "cool hunter" to come into my school, I'd train the students to be themselves, dress like themselves because if you're yourself them people know the real you, I'd encourage them that they don't need to look or dress like that person to be cool, because if you fake yourself into something your not you'll be confused, you'd be stuck in someone else is path in life.
Then afterwards the real you will be lost, because you wouldn't get to know yourself, you'd become tired and stressed of trying to be cool being popular isn't really that cool, being you is your natural self that's cool.
"cool hunters" are making the teen into someone there not, something that isn't realistic, everybody wants to be cool now and days but having a teen in that kind of situation can be tough, because they  will start to think the real me isn't this or that, But if I'm this I can be cool. they will get into that mindset having to say or think "I have to",  because there getting money for being someone there not and once there in it gets depression I say rich and unhappy but all people are not the same some people like the attention and money  but what about when your alone and the thoughts eat at you because everybody knows you but doesn't really know the real you, everybody has there share of opinions this is just mine.

Societal conscious achievers:
I'd say I'm a societal achiever because I know I don't fit in the rest of the categories.  i don't buy stuff to have other people like me, I'm basically myself, yes I do wear tomes, flats. I'm not that athletic but I do,do sports out of school such as judo, teak-won-do I used to dance. I nature, i love walks and beautiful days in the sun. I eat whatever I want to. I wear whatever I want to.

Emulators:
I'd say my Boyfriend Dave, its doesn't absolutely describe him he is in search of of an identity in adult working world. his self-confidence is not always the best but, I always try help him in the best way I can. Dave doesn't try buy things to be cool. Dave does wear under Amour. he does wear AXE.
Dave is his own person.

Emulator-Achievers: My brother would probably be an Emulator-Achiever because he always has to buy the new stuff, but only if he has the money, I think he just trying to like the same things as his Girlfriend. hes been different lately.

Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship

1.How would you define digital citizenship? What does that even mean?
A digital citizen refers to a person utilizing information technology in order to engage in society, politics, and government participation.
2.When using social media, would you consider yourself a good “digital citizen?” Do you use social media to post positive things about yourself and others?
when it comes to social media I don't really put anything on it personal about myself, nobody needs to know.
3.Is our school’s “digital citizenship” practice a pass or fail?
Raymore school its not the best at digital citizenship but I think they definitely practice it. I'm sure the school has accounts on what happens in the school that are positive.
4.Rate our school using the rubric at the bottom of the post – what number would we get?
The digital citizenship in our school would probably be a 3 because Miss, Bisson is educating us on social media, which is obviously media studies, and its positive.
5.What could we do differently?
We could be more positive on social media and social media wouldn't be so bad. social media is not bad, its the stuff that's being put on it, which is brainwashing and negative.
spread more positive.

what is media

what is media
ad: Always #LikeAgirl
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjJQBjWYDTs

1.Who is the intended audience?

Adults, young adults childern and teenagers. Most people who watch tv, its a good advertisment, its eyecatching, its inspiratonal.

2. How does the ad appeal to them?

Hit like a girl #LikeAgirl., an advertisment that makes other people understand that its not okay to say "you hit like a girl" "swim like a girl" "run like a girl" just because your a girl doesnt mean your weak. It hepls other people who dont understand, understand.
3. What visual element(s) does the ad contain? How are they used? (Refer to handout.
The background is soild blue, it lets us focus on the person who is talking, theres acting, subtitles on what the person is saying. The words are inspiring, its an eye opening advertisment. They are used in a understanding way, they are using examples with men, young women, teenagers, childern and asking them to do stuff like a girl. Then they realized that #LikeAgirl is used like an insult. Trying to be people to understand that "you hit like a girl" is not okay to use.

4. What story component(s) are contained in the ad? How are they used?

The story of this component is there always advertisment is trying to tell a story on how girls are insulted and humilated by the refernce of "you hit lke a girl" always is a pad company for adults and young women. they got the girls to do it in a acting way.
5. What need(s) does the ad exploit? Explain.

The need for this advertisment is to show that the childerns brain is more innocent then teenagers, teen feel the need to think that #LikeAgirl is a insult but when they watched the childen do the examples and it was an eye opener that its okay to be yourself.
6.Does the ad address ?a social issue? How?

Yes this advertising shows honesty and it opens eyes, its inpirational. Its because they way they put it and how they did and the acting  and the aftermath of the exaples and how they the girls did the #LikeAgirl it was good exaple because they were themselves.
7. In your opinion, is the ad effective? Give at least 3 specific reasons why/why not.
I liked this ad beacuse it was understanable, I like it because it was different. it shows beauty and that girls are just as strong as boys.

8.  Which of the two ads is the most effective? Why

Ad: Dove Evolution With some images, all is not what it seems
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5qZedMTkkE

1. Who is the intended audience?
This ad would intend young women and teenagers.
2. How does the ad appeal to them?
The ad really gives a bad appeal, they are taking reality and turning it into something fake.
3. What visual element(s) does the ad contain? How are they used? (Refer to handout).
The visual of this element is a girl getting all pretty with make up. She takes a picture and she gets edit to look completely different, more perfected and beautiful, when teens and pre-teens see that there are going to think " I want to look like that" so they go out and buy that product, it brain-washing.

4. What story component(s) are contained in the ad? How are they used?
The story of this component is they are trying to help teenagers get there self-esteem back and helping them understand that looking a magazine and understand that the picture, the models are not reality, its not really how they look in person. Everything in magazine and social media is all photo shopped.

5. What need(s) does the ad exploit? Explain.
The need of this video is gaining teenagers self-Esteem, dove is a very good company and brand, therefore their product advertisements are reality,  they show positive attitude on life and most importantly advertisement.
6. Does the ad address a social issue? How?

7. In your opinion, is the ad effective? Give at least 3 specific reasons why/why not.
Every dove commercial/advertisement always seems to be reality, the positive outlook on people in real life and in the model industry. Dove shows you don't have to be freakishly skinny to be a model, in the other hand Victoria secret models nope not positive at all.
8. Which of the two ads is the most effective? Why?
The difference between the two advertisements ones positive the other is negative, negative as in how they edit to make the photo look different and that's why the beauty of teenagers minds is distorted. It shows that some advertisings are not all bad.

Gernations

Generations of pop culture
Pop culture in my grandmas and grannies generation, was actually pretty good music now and days the pop is dry, its not that good it all sounds the same. My granny listened to Janis Joplin, Fleet wood Mac..CCR.
my Grandma listened to the rolling stones she was more of a Patsy Cline, Charlie Pride.

In my mom listened to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson, New kids on the block and Usher, vanilla ice, Mc hammer, Salt n Peppa and TLC.
My dad was more into heavy metal like Metallica and rock like Gunz & Roses.

About me

My first name is Celina, I'm in grade 11.
People would describe me as funny, encouraging, I like to write, I like judo.
my strong areas of academics would be writing/poetry, the
one I strongly need help with is mathematics.
The one thing I hate about school is people, I'm not a people person.
Another thing I like about school is getting the marks I need to graduate.
I like learning about human development (psychology), basically things that catch my interest.
I'm not strong in my technology I don't know to much, but I definitely like technology for entertainment.
yes but no, I think intelligence is all about memorizing anybody can be smart just got to work for it.
learning would be easier if you explain in a more understanding way.

My favorite genre

My favorite genre

Genre: Romance
movie selection: The notebook
My favorite genre is probably the romance just because I'm a sappy girl and love romantic stuff, this movie is very sentimental. There will be lovey dovey stuff. obviously a climax romantic love story, a love song it will be bright and loving or complicated. romantic movies are always fun to watch. a romance movie takes place anywhere really a house or school even at the mall at a coffee shop.
the characters would be anyone really a girl and a boy, man or a women. my favorite actor would be Ryan Gosling he's in every romance movie I watch. the endings are usually so sad the wife/girlfriend dies or the opposite. or if its a happy ending the guy gets the girl or the girl falls in love.

60 years

Me in 60 years
If I was 60 and my grandchildren were into technology, I'd let them be on there device as long as  chores were done  and they could socialize once in a while, get fresh air, play outside. If they have a favorite show I'd join in with them.  just because I'm 60 doesn't mean I have to nag at the for it, id probably never understand why its so important, but I'd let them be. For rules I'd ask them to put it away to hang out and talk because id be 60 and old.
